United States Badminton Development Foundation

Mission Statement

The mission of the United States Badminton Development Foundation (USBDF) is to promote badminton as a competitive sport in the United States as well as to help develop programs to encourage our youth to participate in this sport.

Background and History

The United States Badminton Development Foundation (USBDF) was founded on November 3, 2002, in the Banquet Room of the Orange County Badminton Court in the city of Orange, California.  The founding of the USBDF was led by efforts of OCBC member, players and parents who, in a series of earlier meetings, organized the creation of this non-profit organization to promote badminton in the United States.

The USBDF invites members from the Southern California badminton community to join its efforts to promote the sport of badminton regionally and nationally, by sponsoring tournaments, seminars, and clinics, and helping our young badminton enthusiasts with equipment, shuttles, uniforms, and training.  The other goal of this organization is to garner the support of its members as well as other interested parties to develop seed money that the organization will be able to use to pursue promotional sponsorship from corporate America.

Means, Methods and Planned Events

Means
The USBDF establishes a working capital for every year and hope that this seed money will help generate additional contributions from individuals and corporations throughout the region and nationally in order to fund programs such as training young badminton athletes in the program.

Methods
The USBDF plans to sponsor badminton tournaments as a method to encourage and highlight the sport of badminton.  To develop skilled players, the USBDF will offer training clinic and camps periodically.  It also hopes to introduce the sport to the general public by inviting world-class players to sponsored exhibition games.

Planned Events
For the year 2003, USBDF will continue to have the annual Junior Tournament in April 2003 at OCBC.  Other tournaments are being planned. Please see the tournament and events pages for more details.
